How to achieve Natural Newborn Photography
I know that natural newborn photography can mean different things for different people. For me, natural newborn photography is just that; Natural. I don’t use props, I don’t pose your baby in particular ways. I want to capture the new relationship between you and your newborn baby. I want to capture the teeny little features of your baby that change so quickly. I want you to almost be able to smell that newborn smell when you look back on your babies first professional newborn photos.
So, how do we do this? Firstly, I like to do your newborn photography session in your own home. There is something truely special about looking back at photos of your sweet little baby in your own home. Maybe there are photos of you feeding your baby in a special chair in their room. Or cuddling up together on the couch. All these things will trigger even more memories down the track and make your photos even more special to look back on.
Secondly, for me, natural newborn photography means real moments. If your baby wants to be held a certain way, then that’s exactly what you should do. If they want to be fed, then you can feed them and I can photograph that. Newborn babies are so beautiful they don’t need to be posed, just holding your baby and looking down at their little face is what makes the most perfect natural newborn photos.
So, it all might be sounding a little too simple right? But it really is just that. I want you to be yourself and enjoy this time with your newborn baby. It’s my job to find the special moments in the photos. I might guide you towards some nice light, or can offer some help deciding where to go in your home. But on the most part, it is just you spending time with your newborn baby.
