There are so many things to think about while expecting a newborn baby and so many things to buy! And I’m sure some people wonder if it’s really worth spending the money on newborn photography - especially if you’re not really into the super posed, baby in a bucket, style of photography. I get it, that style of newborn photography isn’t my thing either! I believe in capturing real moments with your newborn baby and obviously, I’m going to tell you it’s definitely worth it… but here are some more reasons why.

ONE: Selfies are Great but..

While selfies are great, a photo taken without having to hold a phone is always going to be better. The most important reason for hiring a photographer for your newborn photos is that you can all be IN the photos. This isn’t just for you, it for your children. One day they will look back on those newborn photos and see how much they were loved from the moment they were born.

TWO: Be Present

And following on from No.1 - when you aren’t worrying about taking selfies, you can be completely present with your newborn baby and your photographer can capture all those beautiful, natural moments with your newborn baby. No need to awkwardly pose, just soak in all the newborn goodness.

We all know it, but it’s worth adding to the list… newborn babies grow and change incredibly quickly. Capturing those little fingers wrapped around yours, or your newborn baby being held safe in your arms are definitely reasons to have a professional photographer capture your newborn baby. Having a professional newborn photography session gives you the chance to really sit back and reflect on your new life with your new little baby. A chance to relax and enjoy the cuddles while I photograph you without having to worry about anything else going on in your life.

FOUR: Last a Lifetime

The investment might seem a lot when adding up all the other things you need BUT, if you think about how many years you are going to be able to look back and enjoy those photos for - it’s really priceless. (And if you need to justify it to someone, just divide the price by the number of years - your life + your babies life = a long time!)

FIVE: No posing required

A lot of people have the preconceived idea that professional baby photos mean babies carefully posed in a basket, and there are many photographers to choose from who do beautiful posed, sleepy baby photos. But there are more options, if that style isn’t for you, then I might just be the photographer worth booking. I love to capture real moments with your baby, no need to pose, no need to worry if your baby is crying or a couple months old rather than the ‘recommended’ week old. I want you to look back on the photos with your newborn baby and feel exactly how you felt in that moment. It’s not just about what you look like - it’s how it makes you feel.
